33 Weeks

Baby's now the size of a honeydew! Measuring 17 inches long, she weighs about 5 lbs. And from this week, until 2 weeks before birth, she will gain about a half pound of weight each week.

Things are heating up inside as well: Baby may grow up to a full inch this week alone, and her brain is developing like crazy. The bones in her skull are formed, but aren't fused. They actually don't fuse entirely until early adulthood, allowing room for their brain to grow through childhood. Because they aren't fused, the bones in her skull will be able to overlap, helping her to fit through the birth canal during delivery.
Pretty soon, she'll be able to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. Also, her bones are hardening, and she's started to keep her eyes open when she's awake.
